The Wind-Fairy Abandons.....

We knew we were in for one of the days our good friends Heather and Myles talk about - head nds all the way. We headed south, slowly. Top speed 17.9kph. Average just over 13kph! But it wasn't wet. This is where we have started to see the effects of the rain. We agree we can't workout the irrigation canal system. The canals are full to the brim, there is no obvious irrigation and we are curious as to where the water comes from and goes. Passing L for Leaghur (nothing there except a notable blackbox wetland and woodland) we thought we were at the coast - all the lakes made it seem unreal in the west. Arrived at Boort - no rom at the campground due to another tennis carnival (!) so retreated to the Railway Hotel, just as a bus load of tourists was leaving, having had lunch there. The publican offered us lunch as there was plenty left over - and very good it was too! We went off exploring for a couple of hours - two beautiful lakes here, full for the first time in eight years. The photo of the gum tree stand reminded me of the tapestry in Parliament House. These trees are the result of a flood about ten years ago. The publican's wife has cooked dinner for us so time to sign off. Who knows where the wind will take us tomorrow.....
